Australian Grappling Championships

Hi everyone,

The AGC Invitational 2 is coming up this weekend and I'll be representing Toa BJJ and Absolute MMA in the heavy weight bracket.

This show is looking to be even better than the last one. Both the light weights and heavy weights will have some awesome grappling matches. There are still some tickets available but they are going quick.

Drilling Class

If you train with me then you probably know I like repetitions. We train a lot of techniques and we need some time to consolidate the techniques we've already learned and sharpen the techniques we're already good at.

To help with this we're adding some time to jump on the mats, grab a partner, and get repetitions of techniques you want to learn or improve on. If people are making the most of this we can increase the time as well.

Friday 6:30pm - 7:00pm

See you on the mats!

Limited Classes 25th - 29th June

From the 24th to the 29th of June classes will be limited as Head coach, Alex, will be away. Judo coach, James will take over some lessons but just be aware you might no be able to train as normal. Keep an eye out for follow up posts when we finalise which lessons will be cancelled.

Unfortunately the kids classes, both Wednesday and Thursday, won't run. We'll look into either extending a class into the holidays or adding an extra class to make up for it though.

We'll be springing back to action on the 30th though! A bit like this Lachie guy :)

Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions. See you on the mats.

Belt promotions in our Kids classes

Congratulations to our new Grey belts.

The kids have been training really hard and it's starting to pay off as we have had our first round of belt promotions. Tia, Allegra, Archie, Ashton and Rowan have all been turning up and training hard and have earned the grey belts without a doubt. There are still a few more belts to hand out and more to come in the future.

Congratulations to those who were awarded belts and keep training hard to everyone else. You're all on the right track.

Great first competition from James!

Great first competition for James Chirgwin. He had great throws and subs all day long. Classic James, he had a slow start in the Gi losing his first 2 matches in the round robin and winning the next 2, he didn't make it through to the finals. In the No-Gi he was more relaxed and comfortable and submitted everyone to win gold.

As always we'll be working on some minor techniques and adjustments on the backside of this comp which will have a big impact on the results next time around.

Get some rest and great work bro!
