Grappling Industries Recap

We had a great day at grappling industries on Sunday. Cohen crushed through his division to take gold with impressive Jiu-Jitsu and a high percentage of submissions.

James took bronze (no photo cause he’s a ninja) after being bumped up to a higher rank (blue belt) due to politic’s. It was a good opportunity for him though and I think the bronze doesn’t reflect how good his performance was.

Kane showed some good Jiu-jitsu and achieved his goal of getting some experience in comp to help him shape his training, he’ll be strong.

I had a good start getting 3 submissions but broke my knee in the fourth fight in an accident during a Judo throw. Gotta train more Judo I guess. I will probably be out for Pan Pacific’s now too. It’s a shame for me, but overall we had a great day.

Proud of all you guys. Awesome work!

Kids classes for term 3

We had lots of kids training hard this term. Well done to everyone, definitely need to remember to get whole team photos but here are the kids who managed to earn belts this term. Really cool to see their hard work pay off. Unfortunately last class of term was small so there are a few more belt sitting on the shelves :)

See you all next term. Parabens (congratulations - Portuguese) and keep up the good work!

AGC Invitational 2

AGC Invitational 2 didn't go my way. I lost the final to Matt McGuinness in a tough rematch. It went the distance and turned out to be about a 25-30 minute battle but he won with the fastest escape times in the overtime rounds.

Massive thanks to my coach Thiago Steffanuti in Melbourne (Absolute MMA), my coaches fellow at Toa BJJ: James Chirgwin (Judo) and Ben Scott (Striking). Also thanks to all my students and family.

I felt a lot better this time around but couldn't get the job done. But I'm already working on plans for improving training... back to the grind. I love it. See you on the mats.

Sorry for those who came and weren't in the photo, it was taken at about 1:30 in the morning so most of you went home. It meant a lot to me to see you all there.
